Reaching the station of waliullah by repenting for our past sins
Question: Is it possible to reach the station of the friends of Allah by repenting for one’s past sins?
Answer: The real goal is to travel the path of obedience. Every stage traversed is a blessing for human beings. Thus, we should not be hopeless of Allah’s mercy. As well as this, we should not have unreasonable expectations [regarding salvation]. After repenting for one’s past sins, any wayfaring that is done on the path of obedience allows the spiritual grounds to become developed in a person. In this way, a person is blessed by Allah and, within their existential limits, they reach perfection.
