Fasting is for God

Fasting is for God. Perhaps the reason behind it is that there is no worship that keeps human beings away from getting attached to this world as much as fasting does. Fasting makes one God-conscious and purified. It removes the obstacles from a person and prepares the hearts to take flight. In no act of worship except for fasting does this state come about for human beings. Those who correctly observe all of the etiquettes of fasting will enjoy the pleasures of that weightless feeling of the soul that cannot be found in any other act of worship.
