“Night-time, during operations, is quite strange and astounding. You would find someone writing his will, or someone else sitting in a corner praying for martyrdom. The scene is so wonderful on these nights that it brings tears to the eyes.
It can bring a change in anyone who sees it and who realizes how strong their beliefs are and how sincere they were for Allah. Especially how pure these volunteer forces are with their very high spirit.
The night before the start of the operation, some of the guys even dug a grave and laid down inside to whisper to God in secrecy. Later, we found out that even the close friends of Allah would have the same practice. The reason for doing this was to eliminate the fear of death or to fight the desires that stand as obstacles in gaining nearness to Allah. They would do this to remind themselves of death, and how amazing it is to find these 13 to 14-year-olds also doing this.
Their souls are really special. Their whisperings with Allah, their mourning for the Ahlul Bayt, their cries of ‘Karbala, Karbala,’ their lamenting, everything is special. All of this will remind you of the companions of the Prophet of Allah and their love for martyrdom. Their fight was simply for Allah and nothing else. They had no desire for power nor for fame. They never sought money nor any attention. They would not see anything or anyone but Allah.”
These were the words of Shahid Ibrahim Hemmat. A young and active youth who gave his all for Allah’s sake, and left this world as a shahid.
