Seeking Lofty Realities
We have been told to seek the Absolute Beauty at dawn during the holy month of Ramadhan, and to not content ourselves with just listening [to the supplication]. This is because listening is not the same thing as seeking. What a lofty position has been made attainable for human beings as a result of the [a’immah] instructing us to recite, “O’ Allah I beseech you to give me from Your light that enlightens, and all Your enlightenments are luminously bright”. They have taught us these supplications in the month of Ramadhan because it is a fasting person that is worthy of uttering such phrases, and because such a mouth has the ability to say, “O’ Allah I ask You to give me from Your majesty that gives grandeur, and all Your majestic powers are strongly sublime”.
